Photography Challenge Week 38 || Auntie

This past week I spent a lot of time over at my brother's and sister-in-law's house because our family was prepping for a garage sale!!! Those that have ever visited our apartment have probably heard for a year, "We're having a garage sale, so...." and now, it has happened! The guest room is actually a room where guests will fit!

I'm super happy about this in case you wondered.

Anyway, there were a lot of moments where I did not have my camera with me. But I did have my phone, with its lack of front-facing camera, forcing me to opt for selfies.

My nieces and nephews are pretty cute, especially when they are ripping at each others' throats AKA playing with each other. So, I got a few sweet shots of them during the week.

Look at the joy on Hyla's face that she gets from yanking on her sister's hair. See the tenderness of her brother trying to stop her. See the auntie completely not disciplining anyone.

My personal favorite. If these kids like anything, it's seeing themselves on camera.

Photography Challenge Week 36 || Food Fail

You know when you find a recipe on Pinterest and you think it looks delicious and you can't wait to make it and then you make it...and it's not that great?

That was me this week. I've been really into zucchini lately, and so zucchini rice with corns and beans sounded great. I made it, I took pictures because I just knew I would make a recipe blog about it, and then we put it on our plates. It wasn't bad. It was just okay.

But here it is anyway, because that's what I took pictures of this week. Yaaayyy...

We're going to need a bigger bowl.

It just tasted green. Some people might really like it! But it's not my favorite, therefore, pin deleted!

Photography Challenge Week 35 || The Fair

For the next few months, we are trying our hardest to not spend money on extras. AKA, only buy food, gas, necessities, etc. So in lieu of spending money going shopping and the like, we are finding unique ways to pass our time.

This week was date week, so we used a gift card we'd been saving for a dinner at Red Lobster, followed by walking around the county fair. Yay for saving money and still getting to do things!

I wish I could narrow down my favorite part of fairs. I like colorful lights, I like the smell of frying funnel cakes, I like how the fair looks right before it gets dark, I like seeing the crafts and plants that people enter...the list goes on and on.

This year, I did have a definite favorite part of the fair, though. There were giant, gorgeous parrots, and I got to have one sit on my shoulder for a picture.

I didn't take that picture, but I mean, I just needed to share it with everyone. It was so exciting. I love birds.

It is nice to be able to have that much fun walking through animal poop, quilts, giant gourds, food trucks, and rides for a few hours with my favorite guy. He's a good date planner.

Today I'm featuring a shot from my favorite assistant photographer--the wonderful, the astounding, Caaaleb Bryaaaaaant!
And there you have it. Our trip to the fair.

Oh, and I had a least favorite part too. The bathrooms. Always the bathrooms.
