A Little Bit of Spring Break

Not much happened over my break.  I did do a bit of reading in Les Mis (the completely unabridged version, which is at least 1000 pages) and went shopping with my ma.

However, I did get to hang out with some people that I haven’t had the chance to be around in forever!  Meet Leigha and Sara!

Leigha and I tried to have a pinterest night, but we were a bit hungry when we went to Wal-Mart to buy the crafts.  So, we ended up buying crescent rolls, ham, and cheese.  Because…everything tastes good on a crescent roll.

And cupcakes with Disney rings.

Later in the week, Sara, Leigha, and I went to the Lower Dam.  Caleb went too, but he volunteered to be our photographer, so technically there’s no proof.

We did big-kid things like work on a puzzle, watch Yes Man, make cookies, and fix up banana splits.

Not only did I visit with Leigha and Sara, but my friend Will came down from Chicago, so he, Ellen, and I got to reunite!

And that was my break in a nutshell.

My Dog Was Smart.

If you really don’t believe me, just watch this:

Shadow knows how to ask for a biscuit.

See, Shadow knew a lot of words.  If you listen real close, you can hear:

“Can I go ask dad?”

“Aw…now?”

“Can I have a biscuit please please please please please?!”

“Right now.  I want it right now.”

I miss my puppy.

When We Do Dates, We Do Them Right

Caleb and I like to go on dates to commemorate our “month-aversaries.”  It gives us a good reason and reminder to go do something fun together.

You may not know this, but Caleb and I think of arcades as prime date locations.  And that is exactly where we went after walking around the outdoor mall and eating at Texas Land and Cattle (absolutely delicious burgers, by the way.  And cake.)IMG_9597

Our first stop at the arcade was the putt-putt golf.  And before you say, “Oh how cute,” I must tell you that we had the exact same score.  Now you may “oo” and “aww” at us.  Thank you.

After putt-putt, we headed inside.  But not before we found the color-changing lights!  Each color has a mood:

We have SAD:     IMG_9609

We have HAPPY:     IMG_9614

We have CRAZY:     IMG_9611

And we have ANGRY:  IMG_9612

Easily amused.

Then, I proceeded to do one of the “coolest” things I have ever done.  I played Dance Dance Revolution and got the high score for the song “Time After Time!”  I got to type in my name and everything.  I felt so spectacular and tired.  Mainly tired.

There you have it.  I don’t mean to brag, but it was just such a great night that I had to tell people about it!

How Doughnuts are Made and My Wonderful Weekend

When I think things are bad and will only get worse (I never say things can’t get worse) they begin to look up.  The past few days have been so very nice.  And here’s why:

1) Caleb took me to see a musical I’ve been wanting to see since 2008-In The Heights! It was spectacular and Spanish.  I got to do a tiny bit of translating for him.  La bandera=flag.

2) My bro, sis-in-law, Caleb and I went to see the Lorax.  We also hit up CiCi’s beforehand, where we were entertained by multiple random kids working off their cinnamon-roll highs by taking laps around the restaurant.

3) Today I learned how doughnuts were made in a Krispy Kreme store.  Are you ready to learn?  IMG_9587

That last picture is a waterfall of icing falling upon freshly fried doughnuts.  I would very much like to travel along that conveyor belt and take all of that liquid sugar.

4)  I got to spend my day with some of the coolest girls I know.  One of my friends won a little Mary Kay Makeup Day (I just made that up.  The name, not the event.) and a few of us got to tag along!  It was fun, and I won some purple eyeliner!

So yeah, I had a pretty nice weekend.  One more week of school until Spring Break, and then I’ll be even happier!

Thoughts.

Well, it’s been another rough week.  Not a rough week like, “Oh, I have a headache,” or like, “I forgot to study for my Spanish test.” (Although that did happen to me this week too.)  But I can tell you that much like an earthquake, my last semester has some aftershocks.  I’m pretty sure that’s a good analogy.

Anyway, it’s been really hard to capture many, if any, of my thoughts well enough to put them down in a blog.  It’s hard enough to try to write one right now.  I don’t have any funny stories for you that I can think of.  I’ve been taking my gummy vitamins every day, plus I’ve been working out.  But everything honestly seems unimportant.

I guess I’d like to compare my family to Job.  Satan saw a righteous man, and to prove how devoted Job was to God, God let Satan push him around.  So I’d like to take the perspective that God is letting Satan give us a bunch of opportunities to prove ourselves to be strong and devoted.  I don’t much enjoy the path, but it isn’t there for me to enjoy.

IMG_9355 Look-a picture with one of my favorite football players, D.J. Williams!

IMG_9468  And a picture of a roommate craft day!

And an edited picture of one of mine and Caleb’s retro days!  These were some select nice moments of last month.
